Masturbation in Scientology

See preceding link for all the questions.

Besides being a means of accomplishing thought policing and making happily round ball bearings, it's a means to collect blackmail-able, or compromising, information on people.

"Have you ever criminally avoided taxes?"

Seriously who would shake in fear lest their neighbours discover that they had spent a few minutes in private rattling one off?

I don't think a blackmailer would get very rich specialising in the jerk trade.

Most teenagers get over their embarrassment, perhaps growing up in dormitories stunted his growth, sexually as well as in height. There used to be a rumour that it stunted a growing lad's growth. I wonder if he got a lot of lip about being short cos he's a wanker. If so it would actually mean in scn term that his TRs are out. Didn't everyone get bullbaiting on this?

Sec checks and drug rundowns are two sources of sensitive information.

Explain to a young woman who secretly had an abortion while away at college, years earlier, that it really doesn't matter if her elderly Roman Catholic parents find out about it.

There are many questions asked on Security Checks. Please read the link.

I would venture to guess that in the entire history of the world the total count of humans who never rattled one off is almost 0.

Yeah, but who do you think would be worried now if, for example, you had sex with someone of another race? This isn't apartheid South Africa, the Stormfront internet forum, or Alabama in the 1950s. Says a lot about Scientology though.

I'd feel justified in refusing to answer some of those questions. Others;

Q. Have you ever threatened anyone with a firearm?

A. Not until now (reaches into pocket).

A Bantu would have to answer that one, but I wouldn't have thought it would be an issue.

This one's got my attention though;

Q. How do you feel about being controlled?

I'd be interested to know why they slipped that in; it undoes the whole enterprise IMO. The only sensible answer IMO is, "Why would anyone want to?" Cue one very embarrassed auditor...

It says to me that (if you'll pardon the expression here) Wrong Cupboard couldn't give a toss about the deed, only your fear of having it discovered. In other words if you feared that people might find out about something he was interested in knowing all about it for control reasons,

Imagine running around feeling unbearably guilty about something, meeting a kind stranger, unburdening yourself to the stranger, feeling amazing light with relief from getting it off your chest then the stranger's files get taken over by a big bully ...

Nazi Germany took over the files of a big sexologist who knew all the sexual secrets of the leading cultural figures in Germany and they had control overnight of the whole shebang, they had them by the short and curlies. This is the same game.

Ah yes, good point (and LOL on Wrong Cupboard too).

Lol. Reminds me of the scene in Bladerunner.

Refusing to answer is an innate right...answering any such questions is a form of debasement since it itself forces one's thoughts to those topics! The questions dirty the soul....

"Do you think there is anything wrong with having your own privacy invaded?"
That is from the auditor's sec check. Oops. Forget the right to remain silent....

Good point. Out of interest, has anyone tried pleading the Fifth Amendment when confronted by a sec check (or knows of it having been tried), and if so, what happened?

Or the code of honour one about do not give or receive communication unless you yourself want it.

Great point and it is an inherent part of being a free being.....

This is one issue on which CoS seems to have contradicted itself. It claims to seek a being's freedom yet it limits it by insisting the same being must submit to security checks. Freedom is a pure abstraction for Scn, has no bearing on actual existence. As far as I know there is no way to invoke the code of honor in a session. Refusing to answer is probably a fail on a sec check, LOL. A lot of folks here would be proud to fail a sec check.

Two questions could be added to sec checks that would clarify just how un-free all persons submitting to auditing are:

Do you believe you have the right to remain silent?
Do you believe the code of honor gives you a right to keep certain things to yourself?

And keep in mind that video and audio are recorded now so it's tantamount to a signed statement. I also read the citation where LRH says that there is no guarantee made by the church that 'confessions' will remain confidential for all time! LOL.

Have to say I didn't know that was in writing, but I shouldn't really be surprised.

That is the kicker, surely. How many people know when they sign up for auditing that the Church doesn't consider itself bound by any duty of confidentiality?

Something about a Bantu's withholds

The word 'Bantu' means 'People'. The singular is uMuntu.

When the whites came along way back they asked these black fellas they met 'What are you?' and they replied 'We are people': Bantu.

Somehow that reply became their name.

It is in the sec check link that someone else posted above. I will repost it and quote it exactly in a little while.
