At the time I left the Sea Org in 1978, there was no particular obsession with LSD, it was just one of many drugs which were regarded as unhealthy to use, but which could be dealt with by the Drug Rundown and the Purification Rundown. However since that time, fear of LSD has increased, and has taken on obsessive qualities. In the end all I can say is that LRH suffered from paranoia, and feared a lot of things. He also feared metal, and has stated that being near metal objects (such as nails and screws) could cause an illness called "metalosis". The furniture in all those offices of LRH which every Org has, is required to be built of all wood, with no metal fasteners (which makes it considerably harder to build, and accordingly more expensive). Toward the end of his life LRH developed a bizarre fear that his clothing was contaminated, and required it to be washed over and over, in a series of twelve washing machines, before he would wear it. So, LSD was just one of many pointless obsessions.
