Masturbation in Scientology

This may very well be the most popular thread on ESMB.

LRH had only one reference in Scientology, that I know of, to masturbation.

It was on page 86 of "Advanced Procedures and Axioms".

He said, and I quote, "All apes and man masturbate".

I word cleared that line. I made clay demos of it.

I searched everywhere for some kind of other data he might have given on this subject, but, even on the Saint Hill Special Briefing Course - and I was looking HARD - I found nothing.

There was another reference I found that was designed to scare you from "pulling in pictures" in "Handbook (sic) For PreClears" but that's all I could ever find.

I've heard that people in the Sea Org were sent to ethics and made to do amends for masturbating. And I think I even heard a story where a person's sec check revealed at INT that they had masturbated, and they had to stand up in front of the group and acknowledge it.

But I never found a remedy for it in Scientology.

And I never made it past Clear.

So, please tell me...

Did I quit too soon?

Do OTs masturbate?

What is wrong with masturbating? Why does it need to be cured?

It may be a good solution to over-population if campaigned for in the proper way and channeled accordingly.

Also, not resisting it may ultimately cure one of sex altogether.

Geez, Didn't you know? Your next level would have resolved that 'issue'.

LOL.

I recall on one trip to flag for a six mth check the MAAs were asking all the pre OTs as they were coming in if they masturbated. If so they had an entrance handling with a cram and a little ethics handling. Before their sec check.:duh:

One guy said, "It's my dick!"

Made me laugh.

My ex-husband was OT V - he masturbated to porn. Does that explain things for you?

But was he REALLY an OT V, or did he just falsely attest?

Do Scientologists masturbate more, or less, than ordinary wogs?

I had a fellow staff member - female - who was an auditor, who was a close friend of mine.

She told me one day, with my eyes wide, that females rarely gave up masturbation as a withhold, or missed withhold, in session. She said they rarely considered it an overt.

But MALES!

Guys routinely spent hours and hours of very expensive auditing time going over and over the horrific overt they had committed the night before - even though they knew they would have a session the next day - and they would have to spill it on the read "Has a withhold been missed"?

Since the Emeter is the tool that Scientologists use to look into the hearts of men - and women - what have Scientologists really learned about that all important subject of masturbation?

Does David Miscavige masturbate?

Does Tommy Davis?

What about Karen Pouw? Is she going to put out a press release on the subject?

Other than resisting it and having one's attention stuck on it, I don't see anything bad about it.

Health issues may follow only if one's attention is badly stuck on it.

But the main point is that attention gets stuck on masturbation when one is told it is bad and one tries to resist it, but unable to resist it, gives into it, and then feels bad about it.

If one were not told that masturbation is bad, then it would just be like sneezing. One sneezes as one's nose gets tickled, and then doesn't think any more about it. One is not stuck on it.

Health issues may occur only after one's attention gets stuck on masturbation, otherwise, there is nothing to it.

Taking it as it happens in the natural way, there may be a lot of advantages to it, such as the possible production of endorphins.

So, check your premise, Alanzo. What premise are you operating on? Where does this premise come from?

Before I can answer, Vinaire, I need to understand...

What health issues?

Health issues that one is convinced of, like "penis falling off."

.
That is terrifying.

I have distinct nightmares about that.

Are you sure that masturbation will do that?

Because some of the most grisled veterans I know are still intact.

I really don't know. I only mentioned that because it is a possibility. I wonder if it could lead to prostate problems, but that is just some speculation on my part.

Not many people seem to take it seriously except for conservative Christians and Scientologists, but they seem to do so for religious reasons and not health reasons.

Somebody needs to search medical literature to see how medical professionals view it.

Personally, I consider it to be more of an invented mental issue than a health issue.

Here is possibly more than you really want to know about masturbation from a number of viewpoints:

http://www.libchrist.com/sexed/masturbation.html

(an excerpt)

"Kellogg, of cornflakes fame, was a virulent crusader against masturbation and invented the cereal as one element of a diet he thought would quench the sex drive. (Mr. Graham came up with the Graham cracker for the same purpose.) For those masturbators whom snacks could not cure, Kellogg suggested circumcision without anesthesia."

The real question is "what happened to Shelly Miscavige"? Only the most craven of individuals would resort to such a make wrong on sex. If some one is that hung up about it, they should just go get a doll body and live in outer space...

No, I don't think masturbation will make one's penis fall off. You may lay that nightmare to rest, and boldly do what you need to do.

I think one should not resist the urge to masturbate, because that will only make it worse. One should dive into the heart of that urge and just feel and simply acknowledge that urge and whatever flow is coming towards one. If one responds to that urge in any way, one should simply take credit for it without making any excuses. After a while, I believe, one would get rid of any automaticity connected with this urge, and would gain power of choice over it.

OK, but this is the Masturbation in Scientology thread - not the masturbation in PSYCHOLOGY thread - which everyone knows is designed to get people doing it as much as they can!

That's so you become stuck in your body as a thetan and concentrating on Canadian Mountie and "lost little sheep" pictures rather than theta!

What's the process in Scientology which cures a Scientologist of masturbation?

Beats me?
Actually, I knew an OT who masturbated until he went blind. I think he called it doing CCHs solo.
But then he exteriorized with full perception, so he was fine.
