The Grand Opening is on Saturday, 9 February at 1:00pm.

Protesters from Ontario and Quebec will join in the Grand Opening festivities of yet another
Ideal ORG (Idle Morgue) opening of David Miscavige's Disney Land type CASTLES of FAIL.

David Love, Adam Holland, AlexM, and others will tour the delapidated downtown Church - -
now under renovations, before travelling to the Cambridge new Ideal Org opening.

A REAL BEAUTY:

"Adam Holland, a 22-year-old Toronto man who was raised in the church, is concerned the rural landscape will make leaving a difficult task for anyone who chooses to abandon the controversial religion, as he did."

Another protester, AlexM, was a staff member in Berlin and SF orgs. Used to live in LA and protested there back in 2009 and interviewed by Mark Bunker and a couple times for German TV.

This will be David Love's second time in Toronto protesting with Adam Holland, where I rented a room across from the ORG and took some photos of the upper levels of their crumbling ORG:

SNIPS:

Anonymous protesters from Quebec and Ontario have vowed to be in attendance to help inform the public of Scientology's crimes and human rights abuses. David Love, Adam Holland, AlexM, and others will tour the crumbling downtown Church - - now under renovations, before travelling to the Cambridge new Ideal Org opening.

Scientology's leader, David Miscavige, usually attends new Ideal ORG church openings, but rumours say he might avoid this one due to being named in a human right commission investigation, alleging exploitation of a handicap and harassment and intimidation of potential witnesses. Although a court subpoena is unlikely should Miscavige step foot on Canadian soil, the possibility exists?

And it appears Scientology did not learn from past convictions when one considers that the USA and Belgium are now seeking criminal charges for Insurance Fraud in Georgia and Extortion and Fraud charges in Belgium. February 2012, a France Court of Appeal upheld the Church of Scientology's 2009 fraud conviction on charges it pressured members into paying large sums for questionable remedies.

This Saturday, protesters in Cambridge will inform the public of the crimes and abuses within the secret cult of power and deception - - hoping to help others avoid taking the bait and switch "Free IQ Tests and Free Personality Tests".

Church of Scientology opening in Cambridge

Grand opening scheduled for Feb. 9 at 1 p.m.

SNIP:

Project Chanology, has been working locally and worldwide since 2008 to expose the abuses committed by the CoS on its members and the public,” the e-mail said. “Be assured that this is no ordinary church”.

The Chanology group provided supporting evidence of criminal convictions against the church in Ontario and points out that Narconon, a Scientology-related drug rehabilitation program was shut down in 2012 in Trois-Rivieres, Que. by local health authorities because it was deemed “dangerous” and had “no scientific basis to the treatment”.

Spoke to Reporter and more to come after protest.

Great article, David! I see they claim to have opened 2,000 more missions and Orgs in the past few months. Karin Pouw just said 8,000 .... but now ...

However, on its website, the church boasts more than 10,000 churches, missions and groups across 167 nations that welcome more than 4.4 million new people each year, speaking 183 languages, and drawing on 50,000 years of knowledge.

Ilasi says there are several thousand members in the local region alone and that “2012 saw the opening of more Ideal Churches of Scientology than any year in our history”, including new Ideal Churches in the U.S., Germany, Italy and Israel – 12 in all.

The Church of Scientology’s Canadian headquarters recently relocated from Toronto to a former resort in Mono, just west of Orangeville, that will allow for a campus with five buildings totaling 160,000 square feet.

Edit: My bad, it says churches, missions, and groups.

One reporter told me that Scientology isn't handing out much info and Angela Ilasi is
now their mouthpiece in Canada, as opposed to Yvette Shank (OSA CANADA), who hasn't been seen
in quite some time?

Angela Ilasi -

A couple more media outlets (much bigger than Cambridge Times), are digging.

Will DM be there? I would be surprised if he is

Still, with 10,000 Orgs/Missions they'd get 440 new people per year each!

The Church of Scientology has another “Ideal ORG” Grand Opening scheduled for Saturday, February 9th at 1p.m. in Cambridge, Ontario and protesters vow to be heard.

Adam Holland, an Ex-Scientology Sea ORG member, was featured in an eleven page MacLean’s Magazine article recently, and says "They take away everything you are and replace it with their own version of what they think you should be”.

"One thing is for certain: this new building will bring the definition of "Empty" to whole new orders of magnitude."

Grand opening protest

http://www.cambridgetimes.ca/opinion/editorial/article/1577835--grand-opening-protest

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Saturday’s grand opening of the Church of Scientology Cambridge will coincide with a protest at the same location.

Members of Project Chanology, Toronto division, as well as other concerned citizens, plan to picket the church on Bishop Street North.

Project Chanology has been working since 2008 to expose any wrongdoings within the Church of Scientology. For its part, Church of Scientology tries to keep a tight lid on its operations even though it has high-profile followers like Tom Cruise and John Travolta.

However, Church of Scientology constantly faces controversy based on its conduct. Though it may call itself a church, it has run into a wall when it comes to being considered a religious organization. Having that status would provide it with tax-exempt, charitable status. Instead, the word cult tends to surface on a regular basis.

It has also been accused of brainwashing its followers and requiring disconnection – followers are expected to sever all ties with family members who are not involved with the church. To its credit, Church of Scientology continues to grow and had one of its best years in 2012 with a dozen new churches opening. Saturday’s opening could be an interesting moment in this city’s history.

February 9, 2013 - Protesters attend grand opening of Scientology's new Ideal ORG church in Cambridge, Ontario Saturday. After a talk, Police agree to allow protesters on church side of street. Adam Holland gives loud opinions to Scientology, emphasizing disgust of Scientology children being separated from mothers. Cambridge Times photographer was denied access to event and security was high, including Police and Private Security, ALL paid for by Scientology.

One protester, Adam Holland, who is an Ex-Scientology Sea ORG member, was chastised by police for calling out Al Buttnor's name.

WTF??! Since when did calling out somebody's name become an offence? Talk about police ignoring the freaking law, or is that against the law in Canada? Oh, well, they don't claim to be the land of the free - just a democracy.

Thank you David, Adam and Canonymous for your good work in exposing this trap for Canadians. Ms. Ilasi was in OSA at the Vancouver org, and was actively black PRing Gerry since at least 2002. Being a PR agent for Scientology can seem quite empowering. You get to say anything without any concern for conscience. Just get your TRs in and tell a lie. Thank you.

How about this whopper: “We needed to expand somewhere and Cambridge is a beautiful city,” said Angela Ilasi, a church spokesperson.

Scientology press release said:
Church Of Scientology Cuts Ribbon On New Ideal Org For Canada's Technology Triangle

[...] In welcoming the new Church to Cambridge, Member of Parliament, Canadian House of Commons, Ret., Mr. Derek Lee, said: “I know the church is going to be a major player as a community partner in the development of this whole region. I also understand that 2012 was a really big year for Scientology in its expansion here and internationally and it was the biggest year in your history. So today in Cambridge, Ontario you are lighting the fire for 2013, and I wish you all success in making this the biggest year ever.”

http://www.prweb.com/releases/2013/2/prweb10415862.htm

Derek Lee has collaborated with the Scientologists for many years, even in his official capacity as a Member of Parliament. SPDL assembled some information on him, while he was still in office, helping Scientology to recruit new members.

Liberal MP stars in video promoting

The controversial belief system that counts movie stars Tom Cruise and John Travolta as devotees is winning support from a Liberal member of Parliament.

Toronto-area MP Derek Lee appears in a recruiting video used by the Church of Scientology to attract new members in the United States.

Some critics have denounced Scientology as a brainwashing cult that harasses its opponents and exploits the vulnerable for financial gain. But Mr. Lee says he supports some of the group's programs and is particularly impressed by its approach to rehabilitating drug addicts.

"I'm way past the point of viewing them as just a cult," said Mr. Lee, who is Roman Catholic and not a member of the Church of Scientology. "My judgment is there are just too many good people in that faith doing too many good things."

Mr. Lee said he first met Scientologists through a coalition of groups lobbying for more faith-based programming on Canadian television. He occasionally speaks to Scientology gatherings, including one earlier this year in Toronto, as part of his advocacy for greater religious freedom. About five years ago, he recorded a videotape with them at a downtown Ottawa office.

"It's partly an interview and partly my own personal remarks. I was happy to say yes."

Mr. Lee says he was particularly impressed by a pilot project that used Scientology techniques to help inmates in a Mexican prison overcome drug addictions and wanted to bring the system to Canadian prisons.

I see that Anonymous has been following up on some of Scientology's supporters on WWP. Thank you.
