Something is really wrong with this dope. His "facts" & timeline do not make sense.

TonyO has identified 'Jerry Levin' aka 'Don Alverzo' as Jeff Marino. I found no dox on him yet, except for a completion under that name.

Is it possible TonyO meant Rick Marino (New York):
  2. Please note I DID NOT "rip him off" as you imply. I DID NOT quote his entire review. It is a fair use quote as I used just enough of his article to validate my point of COS being a terroristic organization that sanctions criminal activities, which IS the topic of that thread. I also added supportive material from another source to my post.

Additionally, I gave full credit to Tony O and linked his entire review in my post, and I ENCOURAGED people to read it for it's added historical value!

The POINT of including fair use quotes is to not only share information but to LEAD READERS TO THE ORIGINAL ARTICLE OR REVIEW.

I simplistically lead my fair use quotes as "Fair Use Quote:" to make sure that readers who are skimming understand that it is not my original writing.

Since you're too lazy to quote it, Dully, I WILL"

    From wikipedia:

"Fair use is a limitation and exception to the exclusive right granted by copyright law to the author of a creative work. In United States copyright law, fair use is a doctrine that permits limited use of copyrighted material without acquiring permission from the rights holders. Examples of fair use include commentary, search engines, criticism, parody, news reporting, research, teaching, library archiving and scholarship.

I found a blurb on WWP that mentions a Jeff Marino and a Molly Marino as EUS OSA and ex-B1.

and another one from ars 2/28/1998,

Jeff and Molly Marino are alive and well and still making amends to $cn. I
last saw them in New York (State) in 1993. Molly did a lot of work on issue
revision in the SO and her former surname is all over the "old" Tech Vols.

Tony does not write under Creative Commons. His work is copyrighted. He makes it clear that he does not want portions of his articles copied or quoted beyond a small fair use quote or excerpt of the content. It is common knowledge on forums to respect copyrighted materials, and whenever posters to forums have posted more than what would be fair use, the poster has been alerted to this. This is all that Paul was doing.

The forum and the forum poster are at risk when copyrighted materials in substantial amount compared to the whole are posted. I am not saying that Tony would go to this length to protect his written works if found on the forum but like any creator or content, he has that right. When quoting frm n article, it's best to keep it simple and link to the article to avoid the forum getting hit with a complaint or even a DMCA take down notice and the poster getting sued if the content is not edited down or removed.

These are filed all the time by copyright holders. It can be become costly to defend a copyright violation. It's an honored tradition to just provide a small excerpt and lead the reader to where they can read the rest.

  7. "17 U.S. Code § 107 - Limitations on exclusive rights: Fair use

Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 106 and 106A, the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright. In determining whether the use made of a work in any particular case is a fair use the factors to be considered shall include—

    (1) the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes;

    (2) the nature of the copyrighted work;"

    Proves my point!!!

I don't want to discuss the whole copyright issue and all of it's international legal compounds, therefore just one question:

Does a sparrow need to properly deal with copyrights before he can be allowed to sing the songs his mother taught him?

A close friend of mine is a professional in this field.

I've asked him before what exactly, fair use means.

He told me that in reprinting, the general consensus is that it is limited to a few sentences or paragraphs. In a book, a chapter or two, sometimes three, normally for the purpose of promoting or advertising the original.

If the quoted section quotes all important points or the majority of an article or book so that it is unnecessary to see the original and the author is offended, it has probably gone beyond fair use.

The concept is to respect the author by quoting just enough to draw interest to the original, unless the author has given particular permission to quote the article in its entirety or nearly so.

I hope this helps clarify. It did for me.

Molly Harlow's name is attached to many of the old Tech Bulletins. If Molly (Mary Elizabeth) married Jeff K. Marino in NY, then this is probably her. She's be 69 today & living quietly in NY with Jeff. (3rd entry on page)

The Marino's own Burt's Lumber in Huntington Station, NY.

    Merrell Vannier: Interview
Scientology’s Number One Spy [Exclusive Interview]
Added by Douglas Cobb on June 2, 2015.

This is a partial paste from the article. It goes on to describe changes under Miscavige.
Merrell Vannier: Back in 1974, I took on the job as a night-time janitor of the law office representing the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the newspaper that did the hatchet job on Scientology after the Guardian’s Office exposed the Missouri Institute of Psychiatry’s illegal drug experimentation on their patients. I gained access to the law office for my handler who took files off premises, copied them and returned them.
In Clearwater, Florida, by pretending to be an enemy of the church, I was given access to files on Scientology at the regional Immigration & Naturalization Service (INS). As background, the INS had ordered deportation of all non-U.S. citizens at the church’s newly established headquarters in Clearwater. Because many of the staff members were from all over the world the church faced losing a large number of its administrative personnel. I spent the day memorizing key intelligence in the INS files and turned it over to my handler. Based on that information, Guardian’s Office personnel were able to obtain a voluntary dismissal from INS officials.
Guardian Liberty Voice: Who chose your code name, “Ritz,” and why?
Merrell Vannier: My handler, Don Alverzo. He didn’t told me why he chose the name, nor did I ask. But interestingly, one of my editors pointed out to me that I had described an incident in Chapter Two in which Alverzo had a box of Ritz crackers beside him the first time I visited him in his “safe house.” I thought, “Hmm… could be.”
Guardian Liberty Voice: In Arrows in the Dark, you mentioned something called “black Scientology.” What is that, and when and why was it used on you?

    Two things ...

    Vannier is completely untrustworthy.

    Martiniano is a lying blowhard.

Together they're full of shit, and their version of anything is unbelivable. Literally.

I had read Vannier's book a long while back. (Still haven't gotten over it.) :wink2:

I think one of my main takeaways was that Starkey and Miscavige
among others are supposedly government plants sent in to destroy
the COS, if I'm rememberin' correctly.

During the mid-70's, there was "plant-mania" running rampant
with gang-bang sec checks, paranoia, unwarranted SP declares,
and obsessions to find the "whos."

At Saint Louis org, Merrell's org, they actually found a Marcab agent
(plant) in the place and verified it during some sec checks. He was
    shown the door.

This incident might have had a profound effect on Merrell. Who knows?

WIth seck-checks,paranoid, unwarranted SP declares, obsessions to find who's connected with Ze Big SP and happened to, the busting of mission holders....

Now, in internet area, it's obvious there are massive SP declare and disconnection orders issues...It's stunning to read The Freedump magazine and realize how the cherch of $cientology was operated all those years by top executives said to be (by the cherch) prostitues, pedophiles ladies drug sellers, psychotics, perverted, pathological liars, people comitting frauds...religious haters , bigots, angry apostates, wife beaters, kid molesters, psychopaths...

This cult is really freaking weirdo....How come people, upon knowing it is an organization that had demonstrated to be infiltrated with criminals, according to the CO$ freedom magazine...still maintain their trust in it ?????

We just have to watch the news and listen to people escaping it,
to get it's still a haven of criminal plants.....

During the mid-70's, Scientology was busily engaged in accusing others of the crimes it was perpetrating.
    Same as today.

Jeff Marino, aka Don Alverzo should write a book of his own.
I'd love to read the chapter that gives his account of the events on Paulette Cooper's rooftop.

Would that be the incident where Paulette found out that this 'friend' who tried to lure her up to the rooftop was an OSA plant and she wondered if she had gone, would she have been pushed off?

Would that be the series of incidents where Paulette realized that this "friend", Jerry Levin, who repeatedly tried to lure her up to the ledge of her rooftop was a GO plant, and she wondered, in hindsight, would he have pushed her off the roof?

Roof-tops + scientology = bad day/deaths imho. :nervous: Some high flyers (dead), some bad swimmers (dead), some bad care (dead), some crazy (dead), got too old (dead), too broke/broken (dead), driven to madness by Hubbard's insane scam (dead).

Thanks for the link. I was just about to post that.

For anyone who has not read this list, it is harrowing. I wouldn't click it before going to bed, or before eating, but it is essential reading.

After hearing Paulette's account of what amounts to attempted murder, I wonder about all of those poor people on that list who fell from rooftops. Hubbard was an utterly evil man.
