I'm getting tons of 503 errors. Service unavailable (busy)

Is the board being targeted? :confused2:

    Certainly looks that way.

I think it is real interest.

There were links put up on Digg for the Jenna Miscavage story, and I think we are being inundated with traffic.

    Not denial of service.

I think our stats are looking pretty good for this month.

I think ESMB is getting linked on Digg (I found one myself) and other news sites so we are getting lots of guest visitors.

    Currently 4,500 guests!

dos attacks are carried out by zombies using ping to keep the server overloaded responding.

It would not show up as anon guests.

    Ems,

Let us know if you need us hamsters to hit the paypal button for bandwidth costs....

    Seconded.

BTW - the majority of views are on the "We are Anonymous" thread, not Jenna's.

    Seems an unlikely coincidence.

Yes Emma let us know if we need to pay for more bandwidth.

The Digg news item had 13 digs three hours ago and a link to ESMB. Now it is 1216 diggs.

So it looks like ESMB is becoming part of the news story!

it's possible it's scatter-effect from 'anon', even likely. Lots of enthusiasm and little 'aim', but, it does point out one of the problems for 'anonymous' groups anyway; that there is no control over *who* plays.

It'd be typical for the 'Church' to 'join' and try for the counter-productive, such as calls for burning 'churches' down etc, and, of course, DDOS attacks against non-Scientology entities. Just par for the course.

I mean, the ARSCC (wdne) has always had the same problems; one reason for suspicion towards 'newbies', especially the over-enthusiastic ones.

If even *we* can't keep out the 'Fred Durks' types, how could 'anonymous', which doesn't even *try*?

One possibility might be to shut down 'guest' access for a day or so, enough time to get past the attention span of Columbine-flavor kiddies, and offer a notice that ESMB is being too flooded, and please try back in a day or so...

One of the threads here is very high on Digg.com, most of the guests I saw where reading that post (Sabrina's story).
I think we need more bandwidth. I agree that it is probably not being attacked as machines would not come up as guests.
