I actually wasn't really lobbing any assertions that anyone here had insulted Rawl. I noticed that the person I was replying to was taking issue with the tone of the discussion. I did not say that anyone was "wrong, insulting, belittling, et al" nor did I indicate that they weren't. I have not taken a position on what the comportment of other members ought to be, when discussing any matter, other than to say it was my belief that ad hominem attacks had no place, here. I indicated that some of the replies may have been hostile, not knowing anyone else's intentions, however they may have been motivated. At worst, I characterized what Rawl was responding to as a "barrage of negative criticism".

I don't think that acknowledging someone as an actual Scientologist is insulting. The act becomes insulting when it is combined with a subjective, negative observation. In political forums, for instance, I have been called a "liberal". That acknowledgment, however erroneous (I consider myself apolitical), alone does not constitute an insult. It is the context surrounding the word, liberal, that constitutes whether or not it is meant to insult. People have, for instance, couched the word as a taunt: "...you pinko, bleeding-heart, commie, socialist, liberal!" It was their intention to discredit my arguments with what is known as an ad hominem tu quoke by invoking the notion that my arguments stem from beliefs held by pinko, bleeding-heart, commie, socialist, liberals and are therefore, invalid; and often regardless of whether or not they actually were.

I'm all for honesty, be it intellectual, brutal, and/or otherwise. I think that honesty, here, is of paramount importance, regardless of whether or not someone else might be comfortable with it. It's the honesty with a barb, that I have a problem with - a callous remark meant to inflict injury concealed in a fake good intention (e.g. "A lot of people here think your writing style is juvenile, harsh, and stammering. Just thought you should know."), or the honesty of an opinion that states a derogatory notion. (e.g. "My honest opinion is that you're a complete idiot. It's easy to understand why you're a Scientologist.")

But you are not looking. The identity of a cofs member is one who does not look at what is "entheta" or "suppressive" as determined by someone other than yourself.
Clearly, you are a cofs member.

    Thanks, Whitedove! :bighug:

Just for the sake of arguement ... What if they disbanded the Sea Org, did away with PTS/SP and Ethics tech, made amends for all of OSA's black-ops, sent DM to jail for misappropriation of funds and assualt and extortion and blackmail so he was gonna be away for life, stopped using the mind-control of KSW, and stopped charging fees?

I guess it wouldn't really BE Scientology anymore, would it ...? I might, just maaaaaaybe, go look at an organization that took those steps. Maybe. But go back? Doubt it. Too much trust has been smashed to bits.

Oh, are we talking about a RELIGION taking away family? Are you kidding. No religion in their right mind would do that, now would they?

This "religion" called Scientology has, to my family (through influence):

    1) Taken my father out of my life for 30 years. (and made me convinced it was the right thing to do, even though I did not know him, and never gave him a chance in that time).
    2) Gotten my mother to disconnect from me and refuse communication with me for the last 3 years because of a label the church put on me.
    3) Gotten my mother to threaten another family member that if he talks to me, she will make sure that he never sees or talks to his daughter ever again. (she under 18).
    4) Now my mother is trying to get a hold of me to tell me to stop visiting with my family. AS IF she is part of the family. They dispise her. Not because of me, because of what she has become as a result of this church.

Sorry guys, you hit a nerve there.

Anyone thinking of becoming a member of this church, make sure you hate your family and they hate you first. Because this church will tear apart your family life and it will result in that anyways.

    Peace.

It wouldn't be worth it....you can't deliver tech without "ethics". It quickly becomes "pattycake" and "mutual out ruds societies".

So some semblance of "bringing order" would have to be in place.

The rest of the items? It would be a start....

To me, not now, not ever, not with ___________removed or not.
It's still got the mind control, and the abusive "Policies" would slip back in,
    once more--and off ya go.

Once was enough for me. Bea---I'm so sorry to hear about your family.
I was on a radio show yesterday---talking to the PR at Flag, Pat, asking her
    "IF Scientology is SO great:
WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BREAK UP FAMILIES?

WHY DO YOU HAVE TO LIE ABOUT YOUR EX_MEMBERS?

WHY DO YOU HAVE TO STOP FREE SPEECH?

I have to say, she wasn't ready for me! :dance3:

They want me back...this SHALL continue. :dancer:

As I've said many times, as long as they're harming families (like you just said, and I know TONS of other examples)---*I* will be speaking out, exposing this horrific abuse the mafia-like organization, The Church of Scientology, does to families.

I personally still wouldn't go back because I would know that in the end all of the things you mentioned were implemented by Hubbard to make his army of slaves and I just couldn't be comfortable or "in session". I'd always be wondering, what was Hubbard's intention for writing this or implementing this auditing procedure? How did it serve his interest?

OTOH, I'd feel the world would be a much better place and would be very happy to let anyone who was interested in such things investigate them to their hearts content knowing that at least no one was going to get hurt.

You're probably right. A lot of those auditing commands were designed to create a pliant little robot, so your distrust of the session is in some ways well-founded. I'd love to see all that happen, though. I think we could claim a victory at that point.

Then where would the boad go?
