The major difference between Scn and Islam, is that Scn does not profess there to be a Supreme Being (Allah, God, whatever).

Contrary to what the author says, Scn DOES have things to say about what happens after your body dies (thetan gets a new body), and about the immortality of the being.

As far as similarities, there are several. Scn was founded by a con-man. Islam was founded by a desert bandit who indulged in robbery, murder and rape. Plus Mohammad liked having sex with 9 year old girls. In both cases, the behavior of the founder colors the morality of the religion.

Hubbard fair-gamed people who were critical. Mohammad had a woman murdered because she wrote a poem mocking him.

Hubbard's organizational philosophy was that anything was acceptable as long as it got the stats up, and didn't result in "out-PR" blow-back. Mohammad's organizational philosophy was that anything which advanced Islam was OK, and explicitly sanctioned using military conquest as a method. Mohammad went so far as to tell his followers that the only guaranteed way to get into Paradise was to die in Jihad (which is why we get so many "suicide bombers")
