A bad time for POC to parrot the kooks.

“What we have now is a community that was really influenced by these anti-vaccine groups. And they’ve performed a natural experiment: to forgo the measles vaccine based on this propaganda,” Johnson told NBC News.

(CNN)A measles outbreak continues to strike Minnesota as health officials stress the importance of getting vaccinated.

There are now 48 confirmed measles cases in Hennepin, Ramsey and Crow Wing counties, mostly affecting unvaccinated Somali-American children, according to data released by the state's Department of Health on Monday.
Of those impacted, 46 are children 10 and younger; 41 are Somali-American; and 45 have not been vaccinated against the disease, according to the data.

Anti-vaccine activists spark a state’s worst measles outbreak in decades

Suaado Salah listened. And this spring, her 3-year-old boy and 18-month-old girl contracted measles in Minnesota’s largest outbreak of the highly infectious and potentially deadly disease in nearly three decades. Her daughter, who had a rash, high fever and cough, was hospitalized for four nights and needed intravenous fluids and oxygen.
“I thought: ‘I’m in America. I thought I’m in a safe place and my kids will never get sick in that disease,’ ” said Salah, 26, who has lived in Minnesota for more than a decade. Growing up in Somalia, she’d had measles as a child. A sister died of the disease at age 3.
Salah no longer believes that the MMR vaccine triggers autism, a discredited theory that spread rapidly through the local Somali community, fanned by meetings organized by anti-vaccine groups. The activists repeatedly invited Andrew Wakefield, the founder of the modern anti-vaccine movement, to talk to worried parents.

Given that a current senior scientist at the CDC admitted he and his colleagues committed scientific misconduct to cover up a meaningful link between vaccines and autism in black boys, perhaps it's a bad time for POC to believe the proclamations from CDC on issues of vaccine safety?
"CDC scientists colluded to cover up a relationship between the timing of the MMR vaccine and autism in African Americans that was first discovered in November of 2001. Rather than reporting the results to the public, all data regarding this relationship were destroyed at a secret meeting held some time in August/September of 2002. This fact has been affirmed via an affidavit given by Dr. Thompson to Rep. Bill Posey in September, 2014"

If that's not enough, there's plenty of other evidence of corruption within this agency that should make a reasonable person question their creditability on these vaccine issues:
https://worldmercuryproject.org/advocacy-policy/cdc-corruption-deceit-and-cover-up/

There's plenty of valid science that's been done (some of which I linked to earlier) that should give one cause for concern.

Sorry, but characterizing those who expose the corruption and/or make a science based argument as "kooks" isn't that convincing for me.

I am skeptical, since all I see is an opinion of one doctor of another's opinion who later recanted that opinion. It's enough to raise a red flag to look into this further, but beyond the opinions of opinions, are the actual alleged documents proving this link available?

After all, if they were sent to a Congressman, someone must have copies, right?

Do you have information on this other study referred to on that site that links tics with autism?

Sheila, sorry, saw your post just now, ten days after you wrote it.

I think that it's more convincing if you actually hear the recording of the conversation between Dr. William Thompson (CDC Scientist) and Dr.Brian Hooker. It's clear from hearing the recording that Dr. Thompson believed that he personally (as well as his associates at CDC) acted very unethically (if not criminally) with how they manipulated the data on the study which changed the outcome of the research, and it was clear that he felt very guilty about it.

I'll post the link to the recording later whenever I'm able to find one (for free).

With regards to Thompson's "reanalysis" of the paper later (which I believe is what you're referring to as him recanting his opinion), Dr. Hooker said this:

Regardless of the content of Dr. Thompson’s reanalysis paper, these facts remain:

1. CDC scientists colluded to cover up a relationship between the timing of the MMR vaccine and autism in African Americans that was first discovered in November of 2001. Rather than reporting the results to the public, all data regarding this relationship were destroyed at a secret meeting held some time in August/September of 2002. As far as the actual documents, Dr. Thompson has said that he kept hard copies of them after he was ordered to shred them, and he sent a copy to a Congressman in FL who put them in a safe and asked for hearings on the matter, but those never happened to my knowledge.

I'll link to it when I get a moment to dig it up; it may be some days though.

Probably will put it into a different thread though somewhere in "Off-Topic" sub-forum, as I already derailed this thread more that I should have.

Mullah Tony of the American Taliban aka The Nation of Islam has spoken, and in years to come will doubtless find no shortage of scapegoats to blame for the entirely preventable illnesses and infirmities that unvaccinated African-American children will suffer from.
Ignorant and angry people, fed a diet of racial conspiracy theories that inevitably place Jews at the center, as sinister puppet masters is the essence of their sinister "theology."

But the rally on Monday in Monsey, a Rockland County town about 30 miles northwest of New York City, vividly illustrated how the anti-vaccine fervor is not only enduring, but may be growing: Hundreds of ultra-Orthodox Jews packed a ballroom for a “vaccine symposium” with leaders of the anti-vaccination movement.

Organized by a Monsey-based Jewish group, the event also showed how the movement was gaining ground: Greg Mitchell, a Washington-based lobbyist who represents the Church of Scientology, attended the meeting and addressed the crowd, offering to be their “voice in the public-policy game.”

The ultra orthodox could get away with not vaccinating their people ONLY as long as everyone else around them was vaccinated.

With Third World illegals in increasing numbers, they can no longer be "free riders".

The New Yorker: The Message of Measles

As public-health officials confront the largest outbreak in the U.S. in decades, they’ve been fighting as much against dangerous ideas as they have against the disease.

[DELETED]

In May, there was an ultra-Orthodox anti-vaccination “symposium” in a ballroom in Monsey—men and women separated by a makeshift wall, Wakefield present via Skype. A Satmar rabbi, Hillel Handler, stood and suggested that the measles outbreak was an anti-Hasidic conspiracy concocted by Mayor Bill de Blasio, as a cover for diseases imported by Central American immigrants. Others equated what they called “forced vaccination” with the Holocaust.

A representative of the Church of Scientology offered logistical help. The state’s director of epidemiology, Debra Blog, sat quietly near the front of the women’s section, but after a while, dismayed by the rhetoric of what McDonald, of the C.D.C., had taken to calling “the pro-measles movement,” she left. “I knew it was going to be bad, but not this bad,” she told me. “The speakers were terrible. I realized that if I got up to say something I was going to get hauled out of there.”
