That's the one! When I was there 1985-86, it was a piece-of-shit, and was the berthing for CLO & CMO EUS. Broken boilers, never any hot water, and half the time no heat, no elevator, missing window panes, a slum.
Out of curiosity, I drove by it in 2006 and it looked decent on the outside. The whole block was improved. That area of Manhattan is (used to be) called "Hell's Kitchen". Neighborhoods rise, neighborhoods fall.
Typical of Co$ buildings, they can be made to look pretty on the surface, but what's behind the walls? Ironic.
Oh, yeah. Hell's Kitchen's been gentrified since I started going to NYC regularly in the late 90s. It's not too far from the Diamond District, and that area is still pretty run down. Some of those store fronts have not changed their signs or windows in 60 years.
